Enjoy the 70s before temps hit the 90s, possibly 100 across North Texas
It was another pleasant spring day with highs in the upper 70s across the metroplex. Highs on Sunday are again below normal, like every day in May so far.
May temperatures typically fluctuate over a wide range, and this is our wettest month on average as well as our stormiest. It's been since the decade of the 50s when May started with such a long streak of below-normal highs. This all changes this week, peaking on Wednesday.
We are not expecting any rain until the close of the work week, this will be both hot and dry weather. While we will easily break a record on Wednesday, we'll come close on Tuesday and get within range on Thursday.
We've enjoyed the cool weather of late. We have only had two days 90° or above so far this year, with the hottest day on April 13 of 93°.
We've called a First Alert Weather Day for Wednesday. This heat will be a shock to the system. Please drink plenty of fluids and take breaks from the heat.
Rain returns to the forecast next weekend. There could be severe weather with these storms, we'll know more as we draw closer. The rain and storm chances should knock the heat down a little as well.
