He is thought to be a close associate of the sons of Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, who is serving a life sentence in the U.S.
It comes just two days after the wife of "El Chapo" was released from a federal prison in Texas after serving a three-year sentence for helping to run her husband's drug operation.
Emma Coronel Aispuro, the wife of Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin Guzman, was released from prison on Wednesday. She pleaded guilty to federal criminal charges in 2021.
The sons of Guzmán said "we have never produced, manufactured or commercialized fentanyl nor any of its derivatives," the letter said.
He called the Sinaloa investigation "abusive, arrogant interference that should not be accepted under any circumstances."
The drug lord's four sons, who are known as the Chapitos, have earned a reputation as the more violent and aggressive faction of the cartel.
