ESCALON – One person is dead and three others, including two juveniles, are injured after a head-on crash on Highway 120 near Escalon late Wednesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said.

Officers said they responded to Highway 120 in the area of Sexton Road around 4 p.m. for a crash.

Officers determined that a Toyota Highlander was heading west on Highway 120 when the driver veered into the eastbound lane for unknown reasons, crashing head-on with someone driving a piece of farm equipment.

The driver of the Highlander died at the scene, the CHP said. Their identification has not been released.

Two juvenile passengers in the Highlander and the driver of the farming vehicle sustained major injuries, officials said.

Traffic was diverted at Brennan and Van Allen roads, and drivers were urged to use alternative routes.
