Rain in the forecast for Philadelphia region Wednesday after cool start to Tuesday
Before Wednesday morning's downpours, the weather Tuesday morning is off to a cool start, with the temperature bottoming out in the 40s around the Philadelphia region.
We'll see sunshine through most of the day thanks to the influence of a high pressure front, and that will allow the temperature to climb back into the low 70s in the city and 60s for the suburbs this afternoon.
Then Tuesday night, clouds roll in ahead of a strong storm system that will bring rain for the Wednesday morning commute. We've issued a NEXT Weather Alert to keep you aware of that storm. Right now it's looking like rain will be heaviest between 6 a.m. and noon.
There could be more waves of rain Wednesday night into Thursday.
Temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon will likely struggle to climb out of the 50s, with overnight lows remaining around 50 degrees.
There could be more precipitation on Friday, with the rain becoming a little more scattered in nature.
At this time, the Philly region could get 1-3 inches of rain spread out over a few days, so flooding isn't a huge concern now. We will continue to monitor the forecast models and update as the days approach.
The rainy weather finally looks to start to clear out just in time to kick off the Memorial Day weekend. Temperatures look to remain a little cool on Saturday with highs in the upper 60s, but it gets a little closer to normal in the middle 70s for Sunday.
Memorial Day itself remains beyond the 7-day forecast, but currently looks to remain rain-free with temperatures in the mid-70s.
