4 dead, 13 hurt in Chicago weekend shootings, according to police
At least four people were killed and 13 others were hurt in weekend shootings across the city.
The ages of the victims range from 16 to 51.
Shootings from Friday
In the first shooting of the weekend, a 17-year-old boy was on the sidewalk in the 5000 block of South King Drive around 6:30 p.m. when he was shot in the right leg by an unknown person.
He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

Shootings from Saturday
- At 1:20 a.m. in the 6300 block of North Broadway, officers responded to a call of people shot and found multiple victims with gunshot injuries. The victims were not able to provide details of the incident. A 28-year-old man was hit with multiple gunshots to the body and was taken by the CFD to St. Francis Hospital, where he died. A 31-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 36-year-old man was hit in the back and was taken to Evanston Hospital in fair condition.
- At 3:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Fairfield Avenue, officers responded to a call of a person shot. The victim, a 36-year-old man, was outside when a gray sedan drove by and an unknown person displayed a firearm and fired shots from the vehicle. The victim was hit in the forearm and upper flank. The shooter fled the scene. The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he died.
- At 3:59 a.m. in the 2400 block of South Troy Street, a 39-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk when a gray sedan pulled up and an unknown offender fired gunshots from the vehicle, hitting the victim in the chest and leg, before fleeing. Fire crews treated the victim, and he was taken to Mt. Sinai in critical condition.
- At 10:22 a.m., in the 2700 block of West 64th Street, a 16-year-old boy was standing near the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown person who pulled out a firearm and shot at the victim, hitting him twice in the arm. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
- At 5:11 p.m., in the 8000 block of South Ingleside Avenue, a male of unknown age was shot in the leg. The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
- At 10:37 p.m., Chicago police officers responded to a call for service in the 1900 block of North Austin Avenue. Upon arrival, officers dispersed a large group of individuals. One man fled in the opposite direction. As officers pursued him, he turned on them with a firearm in hand. One officer discharged their weapon, hitting the man in his legs and hand. He was taken to Loyola Hospital in fair condition. A weapon was recovered on the scene. An officer was taken to an area hospital for observation. The specifics of this incident, including the comprehensive use of force investigation, are being investigated by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability with the full cooperation of the Chicago Police Department. The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a minimum of 30 days.
Shootings from Sunday
- At 2:05 a.m. in the 7600 block of West Belmont Avenue, a 26-year-old woman was standing outside when she heard a shot fired and felt pain. She was hit once in the shoulder and was taken to Loyola Hospital in fair condition. Elmwood Park Police Department will be conducting an investigation.
- At 4:02 a.m. in the 100 block of West Ontario Street, an argument between a 25-year-old man and another unknown man outside a nightclub turned into a fight. That's when the suspect pulled out a firearm and fired shots at the victim. The victim was hit in the rear and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition.
- At 7:19 a.m. in the 9600 block of South Wabash Avenue, officers responded to the scene and found a 40-year-old man with a gunshot wound in both legs. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
- At 10:56 p.m. in the 1600 block of East Hayes Drive, the victim, a 28-year-old man, waved down officers for assistance, and officers observed that the victim sustained gunshot wounds to the right temple and left cheek. The victim was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. The victim was uncooperative and did not provide further details of the incident.
- At 11:31 p.m. in the 7500 block of South Normal Avenue, officers responded to a call of a person shot. The victim, a 40-year-old man, was outside and was involved in an argument that turned into a fight with a known person, who then displayed a gun and fired shots at the victim. The victim was hit multiple times in the body. The offender fled the scene before police arrived. The victim was taken to the University of Chicago in critical condition and later died.
Shootings from Monday
- At 12:01 a.m. in the 7400 block of South Racine Avenue, the victim, a 36-year-old man, was outside when he heard shots and felt pain. The victim was shot in the left foot. The victim was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in good condition. The victim was unable to provide further details of the incident.
- At 12:42 a.m. in the 6700 block of North Sheridan Road, officers responded to a call of a person shot. The victim, a 51-year-old man, was involved in an argument inside a building with a known person. A witness heard a loud noise and discovered the victim on the floor, shot in the back. The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition.
- At 3:13 a.m. in the 6500 block of South Wolcott Avenue, officers responded to a call of a person shot. The victim, a 20-year-old woman, was walking outside when she heard shots and felt pain. The victim suffered a graze wound to the left thigh. The victim was unable to provide further details about the incident. The victim refused medical attention and is listed in good condition.
Unless otherwise noted, no arrests were made in either incident.
